Spa Industry
Probably the most characteristic feature of the Karlovy Vary Region are the spa resorts located in the renowned triangle Karlovy Vary – Mariánské Lázně – Františkovy Lázně, which is next to Prague the second most visited tourist destination in the Czech Republic. More than one half of the guests of the accommodation facilities are made up of foreigners, especially from Germany, Russia, Poland, Nederlandthe Netherlands and USA. As a result of the concentration of spa resorts in the Karlovy Vary Region, about 30 % of those that come to visit the region are spa guests. The Karlovy Vary Region has the highest concentration of spa resorts and spa capacities of the entire Czech Republic. The 5 main resorts of the region are Karlovy Vary, Jáchymov, Mariánské Lázně, Františkovy Lázně and Lázně Kynžvart. The therapeutic potential of the spas of the region was used by 140 642 guests in 2000, which represents 41.1 % of the spa guests of the entire Czech Republic.
